EPA Section 608 Core + Type I Certification
This is one exam with two sections: Core, followed by Type I for small appliances. It evaluates refrigerant-recovery knowledge for the Type I certification.
Before you begin
Check your account name for correct spelling, capitalization and punctuation: it will appear on your certificate and wallet card. Use your own account and complete the exam independently. This exam is open-book and has no proctoring. There is no time limit; you may pause and return later. Use the on-screen save/exit controls, rather than submitting an unfinished attempt.
The question bank and answer key are confidential. Do not copy, photograph or share test questions. Use the question comment tool to report a concern; PSA reviews concerns after the test, and a comment does not automatically change your score.
Passing, price and retaking
The price is $60 for both sections. Core has 25 questions. Pass Core to unlock the 25-question Type I section. You need at least 21 correct answers (84%) in EACH section. One attempt per section is included. There is no free retake. If either section is failed, PSA requires a new $60 purchase and a restart of the full Core + Type I exam.
Questions may repeat on a later purchase. Your answers are graded after submission. Post-test review identifies incorrect items without revealing the correct answers. Answer keys and exam books cannot be printed.
After passing both sections, your EPA Type I certificate and wallet card can be released; there are no additional M-CAP requirements for this EPA exam. EPA Type I certification does not expire. Types II and III are separate exams and are not included in this offering.
